2023 NCAA Basketball Championship… Mascots

The Huskies will face the Aztecs tonight.  An updated Logo and Mascot bracket are provided below.  Of the 6 groups of mascots, we have representatives from the two most popular groups at the beginning of the tourney: Land Animals (32) and People (23).  And we can throw in sub-groups as well: 7 teams were named after canines (e.g., Bulldogs, Wolfpacks, Huskies) and 11 teams were named after specific  human populations (e.g., Spartans, Cajuns, Aztecs).

2023 Final Four

The Final Four is set in Houston – Each team from a different loose category of mascots: Huskies for the land animal group, Aztecs for the Humans, Owls for the birds, and Hurricanes for the natural phenomenons. The End

Glad to see a good game.  Largest comeback in a championship game.  Chance to tie at the end.

So this is the last animated bracket for this tournament.

68 down to 1.
Basically grew up with this song every year with Tournament highlights.  Always look forward to this recap, never gets old. Glad they are using the Luther Vandross recording.

A group of Wildcats, Blue Devils, Tarheels and Jayhawks walk into New Orleans…

Down to the last four. Of all of the Wildcats and other felines that started, the one out of the Big East is left. Hope for a few more good games. Duke vs North Carolina will be the third this season with each team holding a win. Kansas and Villanova will try to live up to the pedigrees of teams of yore, a 1 seed vs a 2 – only time will tell.

Mascot Bracket 2022

A quick mascot bracket for anyone interested. High seeds are confusing the whole show with too many Wildcats. And more Raiders than normal in this years selection. Without further discussion…

And for those more visually inclined, here are the logos for the schools: (updated as the tournament goes). Sweet 16 is now set:

NCAA Mascot Bracket 2019

Having to travel this year and last year unable to complete the mascot bracket, I will direct you to another source for 2019’s mascot picks.  The image below comes from Ben Fox and Herosports.com via an MSN story.

So enjoy the tournament and root for the underdogs (or Wolf Pack, or Bulldogs), Billikens or Anteaters.  Here is a link to a larger bracket.
