Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival

The Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival is scheduled for the week of April 24 through May 2, 2015.  This is the fifth year for the annual event.  The elementary school aged child received a brochure at school, and I think we may try to make a few of the events.  A schedule/brochure is available here.

Some of the highlights include:

“Science is Everywhere Day” on Sunday April 26 where 30 events are scheduled throughout the Las Vegas Valley (with a couple events in Pahrump and Boulder City).  Pick and choose – schedule what interests you or your group.

SYN Shop Open House, Sunday April 26 10 am – 4 pm

Magic & the Mind, Thursday April 30 with Apollo Robbins (sometimes scene on Brain Games) at Cashman Theater 6:30 – 8:00

Giant Science & Technology Expo, Saturday May 2 at Cashman Center 10 am – 6 pm Most events are focused for younger minds, so a great opportunity for family outings.

Gauge your child’s interest so they aren’t stuck in a 60 minute event where they don’t want to be.  Have fun and maybe the adults will learn something too.

However, one event does not appear to belong with the others.  Cocktail Chemistry looks more like a pub crawl through CraftHaus Brewery – 7350 Eastgate Rd, #110, Las Vegas Distillery – 7330 Eastgate Rd, #100, & Grape Expectations – 7360 Eastgate Rd, #125.  I remember touring the Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee when I was in 1st grade, not too exciting for a 6 year old.

Maybe next year they could put together a presentation about statistics and probability hosted at a Casino.
