NCAA Tournament Picks

I provided my kids with the mascot brackets and let them pick their teams.  And here are their Final Fours…

Eldest Daughter – (State University of New York) Buffalo Bulls, VCU Rams, University at Albany Great Danes, and UAB Blazers

Middle Child (Daughter) – Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Arizona Wildcats, LSU Tigers, and UAB Blazers

Youngest Son – Indiana Hoosiers, Baylor Bears, Belmont Bruins, Utah Utes

Some interesting picks occurred.  Wildcats appear to be the most dominant cat for my middle child, except for the Wildcat-Leopard-Tiger-Panther group in the East Region.  The Tigers were the choice out of the group.

The middle child also had some strong feelings about birds.  The Ospreys of North Florida were the choice until they met the Eagles of Eastern Washington in the Sweet Sixteen – who were then no match for the Blazers of Alabama-Birmingham (not a bird, a DRAGON though).  Ducks make it into the Elite Eight and are dispatched by the Wildcats (AZ) – see above.  Of note:  the Arizona variety were the pick over the Georgia State Panthers.  The National Final in this bracket pitted the Tigers, who overcame the Villanova variety, facing the Arizona Wildcats- with Arizona as the feline of choice.

The youngest son liked the Hoosiers, Bruins (Belmont Variety), and the Utes; might be the ‘oooooooo’ sound that he was keying into.

The Great Danes of Albany made a show in the eldest’s bracket Final Four, as was my suspicion.  But this prediction will not come true- Oklahoma provided the early exit for the team with this dog mascot.
